The WaterPigs Hurdy Gurdy Sheet Music Project

Welcome to our Sheet Music Database. This is a collection of tunes suitable for playing on the Hurdy Gurdy. I aim to collect tunes from all cultures and backgrounds, not just the typical French Dances. I aim for this to be the largest and most diverse collection of Gurdy specific tunes in existence - currently with the major disadvantage of me not owning a Hurdy Gurdy!

Not all of these tunes were actually written for the Hurdy Gurdy. They are merely ones that I have picked out of various sources, having deemed that they are suitable.

Of course, although the tunes on this site aim to be Gurdy friendly, that does not mean they are unplayable on other instruments. As I personally check and enter each tune individually, I will try my best to make sure that the tunes are easily transferrable to other instruments. In short: this is a gurdy specific collection of tunes that can really be played on any melody instrument. I may even include chords wherever possible, to aid the players of other instruments.

Beginners will no doubt be confused by such an array of tunes to pick from! I certainly am whenever I look at TheSession. But never fear, as the good folk from the Hurdy Gurdy UK Forum suggested these as some good session standards:
